Ed was born in Mississippi and grew up in Oklahoma. He worked for Federal government for 25 years before entering the ministry. He has been a pastor in the United Methodist Church since 1998. Before coming to Strasburg, Ed was pastor of Arlington Forest United Methodist Church for seven years. Ed is a graduate of Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, DC.

Ed's passions in ministry are leading worship, preaching, teaching, and pastoral care. He is married to Nina Winkler. In his spare time, he enjoys reading, watching team sports, playing golf, and fishing.
